Annoyance

08 Sep

The ones that have upgraded to Snow Leopard first you will have to deal with a dark screen right after the instal is finished (only on MacBook Pro) it seems.
The work around is to access your machine via remote desktop or share screen facilities. Once the machine reboot you should be able to increase the screen brightness from the keyboard buttons. The other solution is to use a normal Flash Light and point it towards your screen, this will allow you to see where you want to click (strange but true).
The other annoying thing you will want to change is the nasty blue shade/border around the windows when in Exposee.
This is the way to change that:
Go to:
System > Library > CoreServices > Dock.app
(right click: Show Package Contents)
then Contents > Resources
The images are: expose-window-selection-big.png for normal windows and expose-window-selection-small.png for minimized windows.
Having the image the same size and making the visible part smaller reduces the size of the highlight and the other way around.
Now you choose what you want to change it to.

File Sharing between Vista and Mac OS X

10 Jul

I had to do just that with a client the other day and really didn’t think it’ll take that long to set up.
It is easier to view Window Vista files from the Mac than see Mac Files from Window Vista.
Anyhow I’ve found this link the most useful and thought I should share it with you.

Password recovery

27 Mar

One thing for sure! there is no quick way to do that. Check permissions with the anti virus like Norton it lock files sometimes. Here’s a link to protect files and folders and sometimes allows you to get files open. http://www.winability.com/folderguard/editions.htm
This is the link to tools that will allow you to get to lost passwords. http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm
Also Can’t open Tools > Internet Options
Use Regedit.exe and search for NoBrowserOptions and remove it.
It is most likely to be here (but not necessarily)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Restrictions
If you are unfamiliar with Regedit, then ensure you know how to
restore your Registry in case of error and it is a good to export any
key before deleting.

Check the startup (Start-Run-MSCONFIG-Startup tab) for any unknown
items if it is reset on reboot.

You might try this snippet from Mike Burgess first if you use SpyBot:
‘Did you by chance run SpyBot’s Immunize feature?
If so, you can unlock by unchecking the option to “Protect IE Control
Panel”

A Word

18 Jan

Human strength lies in the ability to pass on invaluable information to each others .The knowledge and experience as allowed our world to progress and evolves through time, allowing the next generations to grow stronger and wiser. (it’s worth trying)
My Grandfather always had a deep understanding of nature and its surroundings and his wise words have stayed with me until today guiding me like the ropes of a suspended bridge above a precipice of choices.

It is always a very rewarding experience to pass on knowledge and one should never stop learning as one should never stop watering a plant to favor it’s growth.
